Brenda, Deon, Olive and Joe Beckley

Their family became involved in Gymbaroo when Olive was six months old. Deon and Brenda enrolled Olive into a Gymbaroo class and the first thought that went through Brenda's mind at their first class was, "I wish I'd known about this earlier".

Since enrolling, Gymbaroo has been an important part of their weekly routine. Brenda and Deon found Gymbaroo when they were looking for some way to guarantee their children a healthy and gentle transition into the world. There are so many pressures placed on us to 'achieve'; if we lose perspective of what it is to reach our full potential without those pressures, life becomes condensed and we don't have time for loving, caring and having fun.

Gymbaroo makes learning fun. Brenda and Deon felt reassured that they could leave Olive's developmental milestones in the hands of the team at Gymbaroo, and the rest of the time they could focus on loving, nurturing and having fun with Olive.

Brenda and Deon became proprietors of Nedlands Gymbaroo in term 2, 2011. Their focus is on nurturing the Nedlands centre into a place that offers parents support and community along side what is fundamental to the centre, healthy child development. They believe the Gymbaroo program to be extraordinary and are passionate in passing that message onto families alike.

They invite you to visit the centre to get a feel for it, or email Brenda directly on

Amanda Magraith

Amanda is instrumental to the smooth running of the centre. Amanda began with Nedlands GymbaROO in 2011. If you have any admin related enquiries Amanda will sort it.

Roslyn Twine - Teacher

Roslyn says: It seems that everything I have done in my working life so far has involved working with children. I began learning Theatrical Dancing when I was three years old with Peta Norton School of Dance. When I was about 12, I started working as an Assistant Teacher on a Saturday morning and eventually completed my Full Teacher’s Diploma with the Commonwealth Society of Teacher’s of Dance in 1988.

My family was very involved in the Girl Guide Movement; I have two sisters. After I left Guides I became a Junior Leader and eventually I became the leader of the 1st Ballajura Brownie Unit and ran it for several years. I have not continued to be involved with the Guide Association because I was blessed with three boys and they attend Boys Brigade instead.

After leaving school I went to Teacher’s College and completed my Bachelor of Education in 1988; Major: Music, Minor: English. I worked at Aranmore Catholic College from 1989 – 2001 teaching Dance, English, Music and Society and the Environment. I also teach the flute and have taught the flute students at Aranmore since 1987.

From 2002 – 2006 I ran a Family Day Care from my home with the Lyla Elliott Family Day Care Scheme. During this time I became a member of the Management Committee and I also completed a course in Brain Gym. I developed a Music Programme which I conducted twice a week with various Carers and the children in their care.

In 2007 I went back to teaching at Aranmore Catholic Primary School. I currently work there three days a week teaching Music to all the children from Kindy to Year 6. I teach flute and keyboard on the other two days and co-ordinate the Instrumental Programme. In October 2009 I began working at Gymbaroo on Saturday mornings. All of this keeps me very busy but I enjoy what I do.

Francesca Pedone - Teacher/Assistant

Francesca is full time at the Nedlands centre. She is from Italy and qualified there as an Occupational Therapist. Francesca shares her time as an assistant to our teachers as well as teaching on various days. As you know or will soon find out, Francesca has a very special way with children and they become instantly entranced.

All team members are required to complete an intensive and comprehensive training program through GymbaROO Head Quarters while completing modules throughout their teaching career at GymbaROO.

Leone Woo - Teacher/Assistant

Leone began her relationship with GymbaROO about 9 years ago when she attended classes with her children. Leone is mother of four. She recognised GymbaROO's quality program immediately and became inspired to know more. Leone is a qualified nurse so the neurological basis of the program is familiar.

Leone has returned to teaching GymbaROO after seeing her last child off to school and is a great asset to the team.

Sha Shariff - Teacher

Sha Shariff has joined our team after having an extensive background in mass communications. Sha has taught parental interactive children's movement and music classes since 2002. Sha has two children of her own.

Sha is a warm and welcomed addition to our GymbaROO family.

Rachelle Quintner - Teacher/conducts Professional Development

BA Visual Arts (94) Diploma of Primary Education (09) and 4th Occupational Therapy at Curtin

Rachelle continues to have a relationship with Nedlands GymbaROO after managing the centre for several years. You might meet Rachelle when she generously offers cover or when we offer special free baby classes.

Rachelle says: I have worked with children for over 20 years, as an Art Teacher, Child-care Supervisor and recently as an Education Presenter & Hospital Incursion Coordinator.

Children never cease to amaze me, in their wondrous delight of the world, and they help to keep me young at heart. Watching your children transform from beautiful babies to independent toddlers and beyond is very satisfying. My focus is to make their first experience in an Educational environment lots of fun!

I have been working at Nedlands’ GymbaROO since Feb 2010, and love connecting with the children, and seeing them master new skills through play.
